For the past 18 months we have been working on a project to help people type better. It’s called eType. You can visit our website @ www.eType.com and download your free copy, but that’s not why I’m writing this post. I’m writing it to share with you the events that took place yesterday when we officially launched our beta.

I was expecting this day for ever; this is what happened, at least, as I remember…

I was heading out for lunch with Nino Ransenberg, Shauli Elimelech and Shmil (Shmuel Tal) after meeting two talented young men who set out to start a project management consulting company, and offered us to be a part of it – Nice guys; we’ll see what comes out of it. While in the car, I refreshed TechCrunch’s website on my iPhone browser to see if the story about eType, our story – broke. It just did! It was 14:02 UTC+02:00. Nino my partner was driving and we both looked at each other, there was no going back, eType was now open for everyone.

A rush of adrenaline shot through me and needless to say, I didn’t eat much afterwards…

Roi Carthy from TechCrunch.com wrote a beautiful story about our product – and this is a great opportunity to thank him for it.

At the restaurant, food was coming to the table but I couldn’t really sit still, I was pacing and talking non-stop on the phone with Ayelet Noff (AKA @blonde20) our social marketing guru, Daniella Toaf-Lieber, eType’s product manager, and Itzik Gerber, our CTO. It sounded like everyone was walking on clouds that afternoon. We were all refreshing the techcrunch article page to see the tweets and the facebook ‘LIKE’s go up and up. We were refreshing the database to see more and more people downloading the software. After so much hard work, we deserved a break, our day under the sun.

Going back to the office, I stopped to pick-up a bottle of wine to celebrate with the team. Everyone had a big smile plastered all over their faces. We had many things to do that day but we all got a viral infection by the Refresh virus (similar to Ebola virus but luckily only infects startup companies).

100 downloads… smiles… high fives…

200 downloads… goofy smile… more high fives….

Pizza + coke…

300 downloads… sticky hands high fives…

You get the picture… we didn’t leave the office until 23:30. It took me 10 min to drive home, window open, loud music and after kissing my wife I open my laptop in bed (which I never do!) and refreshed the stats again. By 02:45 My laptop ran out of battery and I thought it was a good time to try and get some sleep.

07:55 I woke up. Opened the laptop and refreshed my browser. We were still growing… thank god…

P.S. I’ll let you know when we hit a million downloads… don’t wait up – it might be a while.
